Maestro reinvigorates classic traditions with new energy, intermixing old and new with the light touch of a virtuoso.
Font Details
Maestro captures remarkable potential energy, without coming apart at the seams. Harmonious proportions and musical rhythms remain humanistic despite a consistent and regular geometry. Nods to early-modern English and Dutch typography breath warmth without the history lesson.
By stripping away fussier shapes but retaining classic proportions, the fonts fuse a straightforward and amenable personality with a timeless sense of style. Maestro is constructed with intermediate masters, keeping stroke contrast low in the middle weights. This allows the fonts to remain sturdy at display sizes, with more even stroke intersections and cross-bars at junctures where the bolder weights lack room.
The short caps-height in the uppercase character set is more than compensated for by their relatively wide forms. This width allows the capitals to make a distinctive impression without the lowercase becoming horizontally greedy.
Maestro’s 10° italics provide a handsome complement to the roman fonts. Curved strokes feature vertically sliced terminals that mirror their upright counterparts, evident on characters like the upper and lowercase “S”.
