Font Details

Roger Excoffon’s Antique Olive Nord designs are instantly recognisable. The bold forms are idiosyncratic but feel right given very tight vertical constraints. Monster explores an alternative where the caps-height, ascenders and descenders are allowed more freedom. The weight balance for the lowercase is reconsidered, shifting volume downwards. This is especially apparent in “t”, “g”, “e” and “a”. Counters in the lowercase are balanced by larger insets where strokes meet, so that overall colour is more even.
